The Winter Skincare Products I’ve Been Loving Lately

It feels like we’ve had a pretty long winter. It’s not over yet though, and unfortunately, we can expect a few more months of cold weather. Over the past few months, I’ve been trying out some new skincare. The following are the best of the bunch. They’re perfect winter skincare products because of how gentle they are and each one has become a new favourite.
First up is a couple of picks from cult French skincare brand Bioderma.

BIODERMA SENSIBIO H20 MAKEUP REMOVING SOLUTION SENSITIVE SKIN | £10.80
I’m not someone who religiously uses Micellar water but it’s an important addition to my collection of winter skincare products. When I’m under the weather or the actual weather isn’t great (looking at you storm Ciara), I reach for waterproof mascara. This makeup removing solution is the easiest, most gentle, kind-to-eyes way of removing it.
BIODERMA SENSIBIO SOOTHING MILK CLEANSING GEL | £17.90
A cleansing gel is one of my must-have skincare products all year round. I’m fussier when it comes to cleansers than I am other products because using the wrong ones can be so detrimental to the skin. There are only a few cleansers that I swear by and I use these on rotation. All are mid to high-end and all are incredibly gentle.
I’m happy to say that this Bioderma cleansing gel is now securely part of this rotation. Similarly to many of my others, it’s scent-less, gentle, and leaves the skin feeling clean but not dried out.

SK-IN PURPLE BUBBLE CLAY MASK | £18.00
There’s something about bubble masks that I just love. I’ve added this to my must-have winter skincare products because it boasts glycerol, shea butter, and avocado and rose oil as ingredients. These work together to replenish the skin by smoothing, rehydrating and locking in moisture.
It’s a really nice mask that banishes impurities while also actually looking after the skin.
DERMALOGICA BARRIER DEFENCE BOOSTER | £67.00
The remaining products are all from Dermalogica. You may already know that I’m a huge fan of their skincare, and I recommend a lot of their products for being high performance. One of my favourite nourishing products is their Sound Sleep Cocoon, but as I’ve already spoken about it in detail, I won’t go into it again here.
Not only does the barrier defence booster nourish and soothe irritated skin, but it also works to prevent skin irritation before it occurs. With winter weather providing several possible causes of skin irritation, this is a skin-saver.
Strangely, as I’ve gotten older, my skin has become more and more sensitive. It’s on the drier side and occasionally suffers the odd eczema flare-up too. It’s difficult to know exactly what kinds of irritation this has prevented, but it’s definitely done a wonderful job of soothing. If you’re someone with sensitive skin then this is worth adding to your shelf of winter skincare products.

DERMALOGICA BIOLUMIN-C EYE SERUM | £63.00
This being the price point that it is, honestly, I didn’t want to like it. However, as so often is the case, the price reflects the quality. Despite not seen a drastic difference in the fine lines that I’ll reluctantly admit that I now have under my eyes, I love this regardless. It’s really helped to brighten and reduce the appearance of dark circles which I suffer from quite badly.
On the bright side (excuse the pun), and if you need a reason to justify the investment, a little does go a long way.
DERMALOGICA NIGHTLY LIP TREATMENT | £47.50
Recently I’ve become more acutely aware that I need to start introducing more preventative anti-aging products into my routine. This product is a bid to do just that. At the risk of sounding vain (I’m not), my lips are one of my favourite features. For this reason, losing volume in them has always been a slight fear of mine.
Because I use this as preventative ageing rather than to reduce an already aged appearance, I’m reluctant to speculate on the results it may achieve. Obviously, I can only speak from my own experience. It’s designed though, to reduce laugh and feather lines around the lips and to restore skin volume.
I like this for its moisturising properties. As someone who trusts in Dermalogica products, I’m assuming that this will work preventatively for me but only time will tell.

In the last months of trying some great new products, I’ve really reignited my love for skincare. These are the best of the products I’ve been trying out and should work for most skin types. The more gentle ones are particularly perfect for those with sensitive skin.
