13 Black Female Fashion & Lifestyle Instagram Creators To Follow

Well it’s certainly been an historical week. The Black Lives Matter Movement seems to be stronger than ever, and alongside so many others, I’ve been educating myself. I hope it’s obvious that I’d never class myself as a racist person, but what I must do is acknowledge my white privilege. After consuming so many resources and hearing so many black stories, becoming much more actively anti-racist is long overdue. It’s not enough to blinker ourselves and to battle racism only when it happens right in front of us.

So this is my commitment, an ongoing one. To encourage equality and attempt to carve out a more level playing field. To lift black voices, support black businesses and donate to black causes. This is a short and non-conclusive goal because I know that I must continue to learn, grow, and consistently consider what more I could be doing.

After having several conversations over social media I realise that more of us must diversify what we are consuming. We can’t go on listening to black music without questioning why our Instagram feeds (and so much more) are full of only white faces. Recently, an online friend (Francisca Rockey) responded to my call for advice. She advised me to amplify black bloggers and influencers so that they can be heard in a white saturated industry.

Some of these women I’ve followed for a long time. A few of them I’ve discovered recently, in an active quest to diversify my feed. All have beautiful fashion and/or lifestyle accounts.
