RINGANA Eco-Friendly Beauty | FRESH Travel Essentials

As I become more environmentally conscious, my decisions require more consideration. Beauty products are a weakness of mine, but I’m regularly discovering great eco-friendly beauty brands like RINGANA. Becoming more conscious of the environment doesn’t have to be all-consuming, but every switch towards ethical practises helps.

WHY YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT RINGANA

RINGANA is an eco-friendly beauty brand to watch. Their ethical approach produces natural skincare products which, as you’d hope, boast both vegan and cruelty free status.

RINGANA believes in protecting resources and safeguarding an environment worth living in. In other words, they acknowledge the importance of sustainability. By packaging their products in materials such as recyclable glass and sugar cane, they put their money where their mouth is by prioritising renewable resource wherever possible. They also run a fantastic recycling incentive.

Earlier this year, RINGANA kindly gifted me their FRESH travel set. Overall I have very positive things to say about the brand and its products, of those I’ve tried. However, I must admit that these keep in line with findings from my own experience, that ethical products tend to be more expensive. For the product sizes that are included in the travel set, I do think that the price is steep.

FRESH TRAVEL SET LIGHT CONTENTS | £54.72

This travel set presents all of the eco-friendly skin, body and hair care essentials. It’s not only perfect for travel because of the miniature sized products but because of the transparent beauty bag that the they’re packaged in. I took this with me to the Dominican to transport my liquids through airport security and it completely simplified the process. This trip was the first I’ve not had to stand before security, awkwardly transferring liquids from my makeup bag into the clear bags that they provide and hoping that they all fit. Sure, you can buy transparent bags from a lot of places, but this one is made from made of recycled PET bottles.

I’m a little late to reviewing the travel set, but since my holidays I’ve used up the last of most of these products. RINGANA is such a wonderful brand that I wanted to make sure I gave them a mention.

FRESH CLEANSER

The mild cleansing milk removes dirt and makeup gently yet thoroughly. It removes even stubborn makeup and contains almond kernel and grape seed oil to pamper the skin. Although the texture of this is more like what I’d describe as a pre-cleanse, I got on great with it. I used it alongside a trusty favourite, as travel can wreak havoc to my skin and I didn’t want to take any chances. However, I’m sure it would be fine to use alone.

FRESH TONIC PURE

I got on well with this too and could definitely feel that it was working. I love that it contains mulberry tree extract to hydrate the skin whilst preventing shine. It also includes ingredients which act to strengthen the skins natural skin barrier and refine complexion.

FRESH HYDRO SERUM

Skin hydration is all the more important during travel, we’ve all heard the horror stories about what aeroplanes can do to the skin. This serum claims to provide maximum hydration with amino acid ectoin. It also contains hyaluronic acid which is an ingredient I love to see in my skincare. This feels luxurious and works wonders.

FRESH CREAM LIGHT

This light moisturising cream brightens the complexion with extract from black elderberry, enabling a more even skin tone. Aloe vera fresh plant juice delivers moisture, while cherry bud extract protects the cells against premature ageing. This is a real does what it says on the tin product. It’s not fancy but lives up to both moisturising and brightening claims.

HAIR AND HYGIENE

FRESH BODY WASH

Containing organic almond oil, orange fruit water and coconut oil, I expected this to smell a little more fruity than it does. The eco-friendly pump dispenses foam which I’m not the biggest fan of, but it does the job I suppose.

FRESH SHAMPOO

This is another foam product, which surprised me. I’ve not used anything quite like this before and must admit that in terms of eco-friendly beauty, I get on much better with shampoo bars. I’ve tried this a couple of times but it’s not easy to use and its simply not effective for my hair type. I didn’t end up finishing this product.

FRESH STAY FRESH

This cleansing foam is a green and health-friendly alternative to moist toilet paper. Honestly, I’ve not used this simply because I’d be doing so for the sole purpose of speaking about it here. I’ve never really used moist toilet paper so haven’t naturally reached for it. Maybe it’s more popular in other countries? Maybe I’m unhygienic for not using it? Who knows.

I guess if you’re properly travelling this could come in handy if you have limited access to washing facilities. If you’re just going on holiday (which is my kind of travel) then it’s not a necessity.

FRESH DEODORANT 

A good deodorant is non-negotiable when travelling. This innovative deodorant is a water-in-oil emulsion and feels like quite a thick cream. As someone who has transitioned from aerosols to roll ons for the sake of the environment, I really wanted to like this but I don’t.

The scent doesn’t scream fresh and although it does an okay job of preventing odours, it definitely couldn’t multitask in order to mask them. Although this is rarely necessary, when it comes to tropical travel, you want to know you’re covered. I still have some of this left and it’s been fine for days at home when I know I don’t need extra protection.

FRESH TOOTH OIL

I’m open to trying a whole host of quirky products in the name of beauty. I’ll admit though, that this one isn’t for me either. I’m a stickler for dental hygiene and as such, toothpaste is simply non-negotiable.

BODY

FRESH BODY MILK

Containing avocado and macadamia nut oil to nourish and soothe dry skin and aloe vera fresh plant juice and bisabolol to soothe irritation and tension, I like this. It’s soothing and moisturising, again, in a simple yet effective kind of way.

FRESH FOOT BALM

I’m not sure I’ve ever viewed foot balm as a travel essential. This tiny 15ml one is lovely though. At just the right consistency, it feels thicker and more appropriate for feet than your average moisturiser but absorbs quickly too. Weirdly, this smells more appealing to me than a lot of the other products. It has a bit of subtle minty-ness going on.

FRESH HAND BALM

This claims to sooth and regenerate skin with valuable seed oils from cranberry, raspberry and chia. Another product I’m not sure I’d view as a travel essential, but it’s nice. When attempting to optimise space I’m likely to use a multi-tasking balm or cream for feet, hands and body.

OVERALL

I’ll definitely be keeping an eye on the brand and am likely to purchase some of their single products. A travel set that features various moisturising products that could be combined into one, but which doesn’t feature conditioner seems a little odd to me. I suppose this all depends on priorities, so maybe I’m the outlier to popular opinion here?

However, I’m fully behind such an ethical brand and am looking forward to future releases which I’ll be sure to try out.
