Autumn comes with its own set of warm hues, cropping up in fallen leaves and pumpkin patches. As soon as I laid eyes on the Eye Heart Palette, I knew it would be a new go-to. It’s fitting for this time of year but will effortlessly carry over into the warmer weather of next year too.
Pixi is one of my all-time favourite skincare brands, with their Glow Tonic range being a staple of mine. So it was about time really, that I finally tried some of their oh so pretty makeup.
They recently launched a new collection which they were kind enough to send me some products from. It’s called the Pixi Pretties and is in collaboration with five top beauty gurus, each with their own products. Despite every single thing being absolutely stunning and incredibly photogenic, I have three clear favourites. Here they are, alongside how I’ve been using them to achieve my idea of the perfect autumn makeup.
The Eye Heart Palette is part of the Pixi Pretties collaboration with Heart Defensor from That’s Heart.
As soon as I opened my collection of Pixi Pretties makeup, this is the item that I was drawn to. The eight-shade palette is all you’d need to create a range of perfect autumn eye looks. Every single shade is stunning and I love that it features the best of both worlds: As well as inciting a wow response in seasonal hues, it also features more subtle everyday shades.
With an autumnal launch date and such beautiful orangey features, I was surprised that the shade names don’t play on autumn themes. Shades from top to bottom, right to left are named: Feb, Oh He Got Money, The Best FAM, Philippines, Always Dancing, Fur Babies, Lip Sync and Coffee.
Don’t get me wrong, these are definitely cute names and they made more sense on further investigation. When watching That’s Heart’s video tutorial with the palette, she discussed how she was inspired by Philippine sunsets. So, no, the palette doesn’t follow a pumpkin route. However, this just goes to show just how versatile it is. My autumnal use versus her sunset inspiration demonstrates that this is a palette that can definitely be worn throughout the different seasons.
I love the colours that surround us at this time of year. When creating my everyday autumn makeup looks I’ve been consistently using Pixi’s Endless Shade Stick which is a pretty bronze. This is another Pixi Pretties collaboration, but with From Head to Toe. I find that it provides the perfect base for the Eye Heart palette.
As I recently mentioned when discussing the Huda Mauve Obsessions palette, neutrals and bronzes are my absolute go-to, so I’ll be getting a lot of use from this, for sure.
As well as the Endless Shade Stick, From Head to Toe’s collaboration also consists of two highlighters. If I’m entirely honest, both are a little too dark for my skin-tone to use in the traditional sense. Having said that, I’ve been using a very little of them as a blush/ highlight hybrid. It gives the top of the apple of my cheek a lovely pop of colour as well as giving me a glow.
The shades of the Glow-y powders are are labelled ‘Fetch’ and ‘Wednesdays’. As a Mean Girls fan, I was sold on these even before I fell in love with the actual product.
The Eye Heart palette shades I’ve been reaching for the most have been Fur Babies, Coffee, Philippines, and The Best Fam. Orange glitter shadow isn’t something I’ve played around with too often, so it’s been a very fun novelty.
The Best Fam is perfect for a more striking Halloween eye. To get the best colour pay off and staying power, I spritz a flat brush with a setting spray before pressing it onto the lid.
I find so much joy in playing around with different products from season to season, let me know if you have more autumnal makeup recommendations before winter rolls around!
