Baby Boy Nursery Details

We moved into our current home 3 days after finding out that we were pregnant. Once we had found out the gender, the nursery was one of our first priorities. Naturally, I immediately started to Pinterest anything cute and ‘vintage baby boy nursery’, think Ralph Lauren home but on a slightly tighter budget. I’ve put together a list of some of our favourite nursery details, for anyone else looking for inspiration.

Many people seem to think that there’s no particular rush to complete a nursery before baby arrives. The logic follows the advice that you should keep your baby in your room with you for at least the first 6 months. We personally always wanted the nursery to be a calm place to take our baby for those night-time feeds and early mornings. Our nursery has been in use for well over 3 months now and I love the time we spend there. I even enjoyed it when I first went on maternity leave, before Atti was here. It was such a lovely calm place to plan and daydream about our future. We still have a few minor details to work on here and there but it’s come together so nicely and I can’t wait to show you!
ROSE ROWAN DESIGN FABRIC WALL STICKERS
It took us a very long time to decide on how to decorate the walls to create a perfect baby boy nursery. I had originally planned a baby blue paint, but as we put together the furnishings and furniture I wasn’t sure that it would all work together. We finally settled on keeping the white and adding interest through panelling and wall sticker placement. We are also looking to add a classic striped wallpaper on the wall to the left of the cot, but are yet to find the perfect one.
Atti’s nursery is very ‘sky’ themed, featuring stars, moons and clouds. As soon as I saw these hot air balloon fabric wall stickers I fell in love. They have such a luxury feel and add a beautiful pop of colour in an otherwise quite neutral room. I also love that you can personalise them. I’m so glad we chose the stickers over wallpapering this space, it looks so much more fun and thought-out and was so easy to do! Rose Rowan Design has such a beautiful selection of wall stickers from flowers and ballet to rainbows and woodland themes. A perfect addition to any nursery, whether you’re decorating for a boy, girl, or surprise.
DUNELM BALLOON WALL SHELF
As soon as I saw this I knew that it would be a perfect accompaniment to our hot air balloon wall sticker. Luckily, I discovered both at around the same time so we could put them up together. Now, our baby boy nursery boasts a magical sky full of animal-filled hot air balloons and I couldn’t be happier with how it’s turned out. It’s also the perfect place to display some of his smaller teddies and it looks like they’re on the most exciting adventure!
JELLYCAT LITTLE GOAT
Sitting pride of place in the basket of the hot air balloon is Little Goat. We’re slowly building Atti a little Jellycat collection and bought this one at The Goat Shed on Mother’s Day. It’s the perfect little reminder of the first we spent together.
CALLIE PERSONALISED BABY BEAR
Another special teddy is his personalised baby bear. I hope Arthur loves the nickname we’ve coined for him as much as we do, because I’ve gone a bit overboard on personalisation. Sometimes I forget that Atti isn’t actually his real name and wonder if we should have just put it straight on his birth certificate!
OBABY MADISON SWIVEL GLIDER RECLINER CHAIR
Perhaps my favourite nursery purchase is the OBaby rocking chair. I’ll admit that it blew my budget but it’s worth it. It was more of an accidental purchase. I was heavily pregnant and shopping for prams when I desperately needed to sit down, making the fortuitous mistake of sitting in the chair closest to me. I didn’t even allow myself to consider buying it until I sat in over five other rocking chairs that all cost considerably less and felt it. The Madison chair is a completely different league and is hands down one of the best baby purchases I’ve made. It’s incredibly comfy, it reclines and swivels and is also stain resistant. If I have to get up and feed a baby in the middle of the night or acclimatise to getting up at 5am every morning, you bet I’m doing it in comfort.
AMAZON MOON NIGHT LIGHT
This night light is one of the first things I added to my Amazon baby registry. It looked cute and practical but when it arrived I was absolutely blown away. The moon is conveniently touch activated and the texture and appearance is just so realistic, craters and all! Knowing how practical and lovely it is, I’d happily pay over double the actual price of this. We use it all the time and I’m confident Atti will also love and use it well into his childhood.
THE RANGE STARS CUT OUT LAMP
We didn’t buy a nursery lamp for the longest time because I just couldn’t find the right one. In fact, nursery lighting is definitely a gap in the market because I had the same problem when it came to a light shade. When we came across this one for a tenner it was a no brainer! It looks so cute lit up and fits our sky theme perfectly.
CLOUD WIRE SHELF
These cute little clouds are perfect for aesthetically styled shelves housing teddies and favourite books. Mine are from Dunelm but are no longer sold so I’ve linked some Amazon ones that look exactly the same.
MAMAS & PAPAS DREAM UPON A CLOUD LAMPSHADE
I haven’t been able to link this as it’s discontinued, we found it on Facebook marketplace. Not only did we get an absolute bargain at £10 (I returned one that we paid £30+ for as soon as I found this), this is the cutest shade I could find and is perfect for his nursery. Mamas & Papas definitely have the nicest shades for baby and children’s rooms but even then, their selection is pretty small.
TWOPAGES CURTAINS
Most rooms in our house feature TWOPAGES curtains or blinds. The quality is unmatched, the colour options are beautiful and the fabric looks and feels so luxurious. The ones in Attis nursery are ‘Isabella‘ in the shade Winter Sky which is a beautiful blue/grey. Code ‘SOPHIE’ will get you 20% off on their website.
The map of the world next to the curtains is an antique that we adore. We hope that Atti shares our love of adventure.
SWEET DREAMS WALL ART
I’m not usually one for any form of writing wall art, but for this I made an exception. ‘Sweet dreams’, the most beautiful sentiment and addition to the wall above the cot in any nursery.
MAMAS & PAPAS ROCKING HORSE & ELEPHANT
The rocking elephant is a chair, suitable from 9 months+ and the rocking horse is self-explanatory, suitable from 24 months +. My Nan bought Atti both of these, and I love that he has both to grow into. I’m sure one day he’ll love playing on these and for now, they make lovely decor details for either a baby girl or baby boy nursery.
